My husband's favorite uncle and several cousins and their kids are coming from the wedding -- 'bout a 14 hour drive away from us. None of these relatives smoke -- in fact a couple of the cousins are fairly religious and don't drink -- so they'll probably skip the dance
The problem is with the bride's grandmother and friends/coworkers of the bride's stepfather & mother. The grandma is a chainsmoker who doesn't care who she smokes around and last year at the cousin's retirement party, I couldn't BELIEVE the number of people who just light up in front of a bunch of people, let alone a bunch of children.
What we'll probably end up doing is going to the wedding and then make sure we get a hotel with a pool. The people with kids and the nondrinkers can hang out with us poolside. We'll have a chance to visit and not have to talk above the noise from the band.
