SMOKING in Public Places

I was wondering what different smoking laws are. Here, in Baltimore, MD smoking is allowed in all restaurants and bars, bowling alleys, bingo halls, and many other places. It prevents me from going out with my friends, and I know in certain states, like Delaware smoking is not allowed indoors aywhere.

What is it like where you live? How do you deal with it?

I live in Ohio and Columbus just passed a no smoking ban where there is no smoking anywhere and various cities are doing the same thing!! I am so happy, now I can take my babies out to dinner with us if I want!! It is so great that people are FINALLY starting to realize this is a good thing in stead of how many customers they are going to loose or how much money they are not going to get because smokers wont go there anymore. If every place is like that they will still go somewhere, right??<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

I live in CT at home... and Boston, Mass for school. Both states have instituted that new law where no one is allowed to smoke in any public restaurant, bar, etc. So the only problem I have is out on the street.

I live in So. California and there is no smoking in restaurants/bars here either. I work at a restaurant that has a pretty big bar with outside seating and people can smoke there. My managers know not to ever put me in an outside station because of the smoke.

I live in Utah and we also have the law that you can not smoke in any public place, except private clubs but we are trying to pass a law right now to ban that. Also here in Utah there is really not alot of people who smoke (Because everyone is mormon)

I live in New Jersey, where all pretty much all restaurants have a no smoking section. Smoking on the street doesn't matter much here because we drive everywhere anyway. In New York City, where I go very often, smoking is banned in all restaurants and bars, so now my main problem is in the street (ironically, I never had problems avoiding smoke BEFORE the law was passed).

In Colorado it is up to each town to decide their smoking laws. In Fort Collins, there is no smoking in bars, restarunts, bowling allyes, ect. unless they have a seperate smoking room with seperate ventelation (sp?) system.
LOVING IT!

I live right on the border of Richardson Texas, which is right next to Dallas. The city of Dallas does not allow smoking in restaurants, But Richardson does. We are separated by one street, so it's the smokers cross the street here, and my son with CF can cross the street into Dallas and breathe clean. There is also strict regulations in smoking establishments to provide good air purification systems, a lot of restaurants had to shut down because they couldn't afford the new systems.
This is unrelated but here in Dallas we have lots of ozone alert days in the summer, and anybody with a respiratory problem is encouraged to stay indoors----asthma is becomiing an increasing problem in Dallas. Does any other city have ozone alert days?
