Sneaky Chef

I just got a hold of a great book and wanted to pass it along to all of you. It is called "The Sneaky Chef" by Missy Lapine. Using simple purees she adds all kinds of vegetables and healthy things to foods most kids can't resist (yes spinach in brownies). I can see taking her ideas and adding a bit of our own CF high fat (ground flax seeds to the breading, opting for bean purees to add protein, high fat yogurts and extra olive oil here and there) tricks and ending up with some great recipes for kids.

I highly recommend getting this book and playing with her ideas. I am starting this weekend, so if anyone else gets it and wants to share your experiences, I'd be curious to hear how things went over.

Also, in the coming months, I will be adding calorie and vitamin information to the recipes on the CF Nutrition4Life. Maybe this will help in planning meals and calorie counting.

Take care,

So we made the chocolate pancakes and they were awesome. They have the purple puree in them which is blueberries and spinach! They are a fun color and if you use a little cocoa powder in the maple syrup it is hardly any sugar. I could also see a little raspberry puree on top with homemade whipped cream. Yum.

The trick is never, EVER , EVER tell your secret to the kids (or veggie-phobic hubby). Just do it and enjoy the silence of watch the nutrition going down the pipes. What they don't know will definately not hurt them!
