Snorkeling

When you get to Hawaii, you can rent a snorkel set for really cheap and try it out really close to shore and see how you feel.
With the ocean, you don't have to do anything to float, so you should not be exerting any energy besides breathing through the snorkel.
Which island are you honymooning on??? We live on the Big Island. I would be more than happy to give you feedback on some of the touristy stuff

Wow, there is so much more to snorkeling than I thought! I will have to look into it more. Maybe I will just snorkel close to shore I guess. There is so much that my fiance wants to do that I won't be able to do that I don't want to add another to the list.

We are going to Kauai. We are staying at the north and south end. I think we are going to do a helicopter ride, possibly ziplining, and a boat cruise. But we haven't planned a lot yet so who knows what might already be booked. Any suggestions?
My husband and I love snorkeling. My PFTs are higher than yours but that should not make a difference. And we LOVE Kauai. We have all gone for the past 3 years (most recently in June) and are going again in January. (we use frequent flier miles and my parents come along so we stay in their timeshares w/ them).

The only thing is that since we travel with the kids and it is always on a low budget (that is how we are able to keep going) we don't do many paid activities. I would say that you should at the very least do the helicopter ride so that you can get a grasp of the island's inaccessible landscape. It is truly amazing. A boat tour is great as well - just make sure you go on the morning one to take advantage of the calmer waters. It will be very bumpy on your way back though.

Just about all the snorkeling on Kauai is from shore so you won't have a problem there. And the best snorkeling is on the north shore. Specifically Tunnels beach. On the south shore you should snorkel Poipu and Lawai beach. There are other beaches to snorkel but those are the best and they are all from shore. And a very inexpensive float device (if you feel you need one) is a pool noodle. Very non restrictive

Get your hands on a copy of one of the Kauai guidebooks. I like "The Ultimate Kauai Guide Book". Oh also check out this website:
http://www.tropicalsnorkeling.com/kauai-snorkeling-hawaii.html
It is by a couple who take snorkeling trips several times a year and have extensively listed the places to snorkel on Kauai and what is good and bad about them.

One last thing - make sure you plan plenty of time to just relax and enjoy paradise. There are tons of pretty beaches to explore and nice sunsets to be had. You don't have to rush or do lots of activities to have a memorable honeymoon.

Oh... Where are you staying? I may be able to give you some other pointers.

So if the snorkeling is from the shore do you just walk in the water or do you still take a boat? Do people use the noodles, because I would love that. I am not a good swimmer.

We are staying at Koa Kea and at the Princeville St. Regis. Any specific beaches you would recommend? Or places to eat?

Thanks!
You can practice snorkling in a local pool or lake, before you get married.

I had PFTs around your numbers during my honeymoon and we snorkeled. Actually, I found it much easier than my husband because he had trouble breathing from the tube. I guess I am used to breathing shallow breaths and found the tube breathing to feel rather normal. Even if you aren't a great swimmer they give you flippers which makes swimming much easier. If you are nervous stay close to the shore and have FUN!
