So he has pneumonia... is it time to pack a bag??

OK, so my son has been sick for a week now. We've been seeing his regular non-cf doctor. He was diagnosed with Strep, then put on Augmentin. 2-days later he gets a fever. The reg doctor examines (chest sounds clear, bloodwork normal, no flu) so they tell me it's a virus and to come back if fever is still present in 72 hours. (I related all this to his CF doc who agreed with the course of action). So 72 hours pass (today), still has a fever (but otherwise feels good... no cough), back to reg doctor who decides it's time to order chest x-ray. Now we know it's pneumonia. Reg dr talks to cf doc on call (not our reg cf doctor) and we switch antibiotics. It's the weekend and pulmonary clinic is closed.
Now I am wondering what will happen tomorrow when clinic is open. Will his cf doc admit him into the hospital? Is this pretty much a no-brainer? Or is it possible they will just try the oral antibiotic route first??
Thank you!

I had pneumonia once when I was a kid it wasn't that bad and I was treat for it a home with oral antibiotics. So unless you think your son is really sick I would say no, but it all depends on the CF dr. they don't all do the same thing! Pack a bag for him just in case if it makes you feel better it can't hurt! I hope this help!!!

If you haven't read "The Bell Curve" from the New Yorker, I'd highly recommend it. It might help you in making these decisions...
