Sodium Bicarbonate??

So, any of your CF docs talking about adding Sodium Bicarbonate to help enzymes work better??  I told the boys' CF doc that there is no enzyme like pancrecarb and that I knew for sure that it was the sodium bicarbonate coating.  The doc said that he heard about some docs trying the sodium bicarbonate out.  It basically goes into the stomach and neutralizes the acid in the stomach.
The boys have been on sodium carbonate pills for a couple days.  Ethan my 7 year old, came to me today and said he doesn't like going poop because he has to push.  This boy has had such mushie bowels, they slide out with no effort and he isn't used to having normal poops.  I think we just had a very memorable day.  Solid poops and no smell...WOOT WOOT!!!!

No my doc has not mentioned this to me before...very interesting...

What is the dosage of the sodium bicarb pills; how often do your boys take them? My daughter thrives on Pancreacarb as well; She's been feeling gassy lately on the Creon and our nutritionist suggested sodium bicarb as well; I will diiscuss it with her as well; next clinic appointment. Oh, and where do you get it? It is prescription or over the counter?
