Some People's kids!

I was just thinking about projects. I was like "you know they're are good to ge the word out to young people about it" but then i remembered high school learning about it, and just no one paying enough attention to absorb it. Then i remembered a time in grade 11 I was taking parenting class. We were learning about genetic disorders and one was CF. The kid sitting in front of me raised his hand and asked the teacher a questiong and it went something like this:
"mrs, do all kids with cf die?"
"yes, derek they do"
I was about 17 at the time... and i didn't even bother to say anything (she was a very opinionated teacher who i really hated anyway). I'm like if you're not going to bother finding out all the facts why should i bother. I just thought that was funny.

I'm suprised that a teacher would say something like that especially if she knew that you had CF. I probably would have said something but I'm kinda tempermental and wouldn't have been allowed in her class after that. I don't have CF but my little sister does and I would have went into Big sister mode on that lady. I think my sister probably would have let it pass though. I guess having CF makes you think diffrently about things people say and do and you learn to just live with a lot of it. I'm just angry that it happened to my sister and not me so I think I get more defensive.

Normally i would have, but i really didn't like the teacher.. or the kid asking the question... and the rest of the class wasn't paying attention anyway... so it was a lot more fun for me and my friend at the time to let her be stupid...

Something that would have left the teacher speachless: " Excuse me Mrs....... If all kids with CF die, why am I not dead?" <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0">

That's great, I love that. " Excuse me Mrs....... If all kids with CF die, why am I not dead?"

That would have left her "ahhhhhhh..." hee..hee..

I agree with you Ashley. Sometimes it just takes less energy and some enjoyment I guess when you think, "I will have to give a speech to even slightly educate this person. I've got other things to do right now." She wasn't worth your time.

I am all about educating, but "come on, I am not going to kill myself doing it.
