Some things I forgot...

We just gave Madelyn baby food for the first time a week ago and she kept choking on it and coughing it up with a lot of mucus. She finally started refusing it. She's almost 6 mths though and needs to start eating more. Any suggestions?

Are you starting with cereal? One thing I did when starting solids is making the cereal VERY thin. So thin that it would basically run off the spoon. Then as they got use to the texture I made it a little thicker. I would thicken it up every few days until it was normal. That is the only trick I used, I hope it helps.
Also, I started between bottle feedings. If I waited until they were hungry they would not be patient enough to be spoon fed, after a bottle they were too full.

Trying a very thin ceral mixture that can actually flow through the nipple (pierce to make a bit wider at the tip) will allow her to have more calories and still begin the food intake process. Also, ask your physcian about using a caloric increase formula to mix with other than milk or water. Some have been known to ok the use of pedia's program of vitiam supplament thinned out.
Good Luck! You're doing great <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I agree with Teri. Even trying some fruit puree thats always a hit. I was having the same problems with my daughter who is now 14months, and fruit puree and rice ceral did the trick.

I work in child care and have recommended it to many moms, they all gave me positive feedback.

Good luck!
