I'll start by saying, I am majorly anti-smoking. I'll complain about it out loud if I have to walk through it. I'll point it out if someone is standing in front of a doorway. I'll bring it to their attention if they are illiterate or blind and can't see or read the giant no smoking sign they are standing in front of while smoking. And I will go the extra mile to find the right person to report smokers in a non-smoking area.

Today, we encountered our very first group of smoking men who went out of their way to get out of our way and try and clear the smoke so that we could walk through to the handicap ramp and across the street! They were the nicest group of gentlemen when we exited a restaurant and turned towards them and came to a dead stop. There I was, pushing Anna' in her wheelchair and Anna' sitting with her O2 on with my friend and her mom trying to figure out how to get the wheelchair off the curb without dumping her out (all of two seconds). When they said, no no come, we will move and across the street they went. No, they didn't put out the cigarettes but they moved quickly and tried fanning where they were. Only for us to cross and seemingly follow them. They quickly moved yet again and recrossed the street away from us. We thanked them several times and they were just so nice, apologizing back. I have never ever had this experience. Heck, no one around here even offers to hold the door for us when they see me struggling to get a wheelchair through a door, and they see us!
I just wanted to share something nice that happened to us today.
