Sonic Cough!

Okay, I just thought I'd share this because I think it is funny and get a kick out of it. One of my friends complains (in a nice, lighthearted fun humor way-no hard feelings we both enjoy it) about my cough. He says that my cough actually startles him, or feels like an explosion to his ears, it is so loud and sudden. My cough is the same as its always been, I guess he's just sensitive to loud ubrupt sounds So, just a humorous story for the day, hope you enjoy!

have you ever noticed how you can identify people by their cough... cf or not. We don't really hear our own cough as it sounds to others because it's so close to our ears. Have you ever heard your cough on video..it's really weird.

My mom once said that my cough has a sting to it. She said she knew there was nothing I could do about it. She said it had evolved over time probably due to the fact that I had honed it into the most helpful cough to clear my lungs. So if I ever really care - which is not very often - maybe interviewing - I cough like a normal person which might take 2-3 coughs to clear the tickle but at least I'm not hurting anyone's ears :)

On that subject, I really hate when I'm in public and my coughing ends in a huge ACCCCKKKKKKK sound. Man, that's embarassing. On the bright side though, if I am crowded at the time people will usually move away really quickly and give me lots of space. =-)

My mom and all my friends (now that i am away at college) use my cough to find me when we are in stores and places like that. Its kinda funny, but i never got lost as a kid because she could always just listen for me. Now my roommates can tell when I am comming home or in the apt cause of my cough... i guess its comes in handy once in a while =)

Or what about when your going along and all of a sudden your start coughing VIOLENTLY out of the blue and it goes on for about a minute til you can catch your breath. I hate that and it catches me by surprise too!

i've got a nice "machine gun" cough and one that sometimes sounds like trying to start a flooded engine.

LOL I use my cough to warn my children I am heading up the stairs to check on them when all goes quiet and I know they are suppose to be cleaning their rooms. They scramble so fast it is funny.

I also use my cough when we are in the store and my husband and I have gone separate ways. I can hear his voice quite a way away and so I cough a couple times and he knows where I'm at.

When my son was about three or four months old we noticed that he was coughing a lot. We had him checked and there was nothing wrong and we finally figured out that he was imitating me and when he coughed he wanted mommy. Everyone thinks it is a little odd when I tell them that my sons first word was a cough but I am proud of the fact he learned to call for me so early in his own way.

Everyone-Great Stories! Cf makes me laugh sometimes

Another cough related thing that Katie's post made me think of...I play hide and seek with my nieces and nephews quite a bit. Well, when they were really little, too little to really look for me well...I would 'have to' cough at just the right time for them to find me
