Spontaneous Mutation

Regarding absence of the vas, yes most men with CF have absent vas, but not all. Especially if the second mutation is very mild. When you look at men with CF or infertile men you usually find two mutations. But those men who are healthy and fertile do not get tested, so we really don't know what the statistics are regarding how many men with two CF mutations are fertile.

Very interesting subject. If you remember I have two identicle mutations (DH117), which are considered as 'mild' mutations. I only found this out after our son was Dxed, as I have no symptoms. Our sons doctor said as much to me at the time, that either both my parents have this gene or that that i produced a replica on my ownsome. They can only say for deffinate if they done blood tests on my parents, and thats not getting done.
The point here Victoria is that there remains a possibility that you may have another mutation, a mild varient yes, as you have no symptoms, but i guess it is possible.
My CF doctor that I see, and I only see him for the last time in july just for precautionary measures, said that as more and more babies are getting screened at birth for CF, then this scenario will appeare more and more. That the figures that they are going on just now for people with a CF mutation may well be quite a way short of the mark.
