Sports Physical question

Hi,
I just have a question about my step-son whom has CF.
He wants to try out for Basketball for his Middle School and they have to get a sports physical done.
Has anyone ever had a problem getting approval with CF? I just want to be prepared for what his physician might say. I know if they don't let him try out it will break his heart. If there is a good chance he won't get approval I want to talk to him before I take him to get it.

I dont know how it works at your school or in this day & age, but I know for me when I was in high school.....I could use my own doctor. I used my CF doctor. If they felt it was a problem they wouldnt have approved it, but I dont like the idea of a GP who may or maynot be familiar with CF deciding if a CFer is physically fit to do a sport. I didnt answer your ?? really, but just a thought more or less!

I wish I would have thought of that at his last visit to the CF clinic :-(
It's two hours away from us.

Jen,

You could probably fax your clinic the form and have them return fax it to you. I wouldn't think they'd have a problem filling it out without your son actually being there. After all, they are probably more familiar with him than any GP is anyway.

Could u call your CF doc's nurse and talk to her and ask her if u
could fax her the form to fill out and fax back to the school.
 I know I have been able to use my son's CF visit on forms
before.  Best of luck and hope he scores a lot of baskets
