Does anyone know any way around this stupid rule? It doesn't make sense for them to hold medical coverage from people who are sick enough to get it so easily.</end quote></div>

The only exception I know of is if you have ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease) with this your Medicare starts the same month as your SSDI checks. What I dont know is WHY this particular illness.....

I am dealing with this in and on again off again basis... First of all there is always miracles happenin and I am so happy to see that you got one..

I am back and fourth with disability but when I don't work I feel so well I go back to work and bam sick again.. It is a pain in the butt..

I know that if you work up until you apply for disability and you had insurance before , by law COBRA has to offer you insurance for up till 18 months which should help the gap... Now paying for Cobra is another miracle you will need...

My old job out of a charity has been paying my CObra for 17 months now.. Part of me is kicking myself in the butt for not following through with disability because I would have it by now....

Also, in my job, I don't know about yours I have disability insurance that would pay my salary for six months.... Do you have that to help pay for the insurance>

Nope, I have already been off work too long. I haven't had insurance for months. It is becoming very difficult to get my meds. My clinic hooked me up with a program to get my pulmozyme, but I am almost out of my Tobi, when it is gone, I will not be able to get any. It is way too expensive. I am trying to get a medical card thru the state but you basically have to be poor to get it, no assets. I already tried once to get it, but since my husband owned a jeep I couldn't get it. Even though we owed on it more than it was worth. We wrecked it so now we don't have to claim that as an asset so I am reapplying with the help of the hospital social worker. Lets hope it works this time.
