I applied on January 11 of this year and still have not heard a decision. I went on a leave of absence from work and have been getting short term disability while I wait this out. Hopefully I will be approved and then will quit my job completely. I also got help from Beth Sufian and supposedly, the process goes a little quicker with her help. I am going on 3 months now.

Bethylove, we had that experience too.

A "ssdi specialist" lawyer who had NO idea what CF was. I ended up doing ALL the legwork and research (hence how I got involved and WHY I started my nonprofit) and that lowlife lawyer got $5000 of Marks back-pay for filing 2 papers and all of the research that <u><b>I</b></u> did.

I was SOOOOOOOO frustrated with these lawyers taking advantage!

Julie -- If the $250 is what you are talking about then yes I did and yes I got it. There is no ongoing benefit that I know of. They also owed us some back pay and I was able to get that as well. We had tried doing it over the phone but it never worked and I was always concerned about Tiffany going down to their offices for health reasons, but to my knowledge I think I got it all straightened out now.

We all just need to remember to be persistent and make sure you are asking the right questions to the right people and don't be satisfied with their first answer. They won't tell you that more is available if they can get away with it -- they make you ask and apply.

David, if you two did NOT have children together, then you would not be able to recieve any survivors benefits until you are age 50: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.ssa.gov/survivorplan/ifyou5.htm

</a>
But, it's definintely something I think you should apply for at that time.

If you did have children, lets talk cause they owe you money.
