Just curious, how long did it take you to recieve your first SSI check since the time you applied? and what are your payments like...sorry not to get to personal.

I was approved in 6 weeks. I never stepped foot in the SSA Office or a doctors office contracted by the SSA. SSI the max is around 770/mo. With no work history you won't get much more as it is a NEEDS based program, where as SSDI is a income based social security and disability program you pay into it when you pay taxes. That being said I get SSDI @ $1027/mo

I'm trying to figure out if we applied for SSI or SSDI. Its our 4 year old daughter who has CF and our monthly maximum is like $700. Whats the difference and is it possible to get both?
