i have been getting these sores lately that start off looking like a pimple, then they start to look infected and get pus in them and turn red and swell. they have been lasting for about 2 weeks at a time and when they are gone, they leave scars behind. i have gotten 5 since november, never more than 1 at a time. i am wondering if anyone else has this problem and if it could be staph infection?

Are they UNDER the skin? I get the ones under the sking. I tend to get them really bad this time of year. I dont know if its from lack of fresh air/sunshine or what. Usually they are the worst when I am feeling bad, but not always. I get one cleared up & am happy & then BOOM I feel another starting. Its really weird & annoying!

I wouldnt call it scars, but definitely a blemish to my skin that is noticable unless I get my makeup just right. They are tender to the touch & if they get big enough the pressure of them hurts without even touching them. I get them mostly on my chin, but have had them up at the bridge of my noise!

I have one on my leg, it has been there for years. Just when I think it is going away it comes back again. I just chalked it up to an ingrown hair or a pimple but I am sure it is something more.

It could be related to herpes/chickenpox/shingles, they are all caused by the same type of virus. My friend had some similar sores (more than one at a time) and that is what it ended up being. Basically it was the virus breaking out like it does as a cold sore on the lip. But she had a few on her scalp and 1 or 2 on her face. Could be possible, escpecially if you are prone to getting cold sores.

My daughter got one of those on her bottom, I thought it was just nothing. My husband insisted I take her to the ER this past Sunday. The doctor cut it open and drained it, he then sent it off to a lab and told me to follow up with her pediatrician to change the dressing.
I met with the Pediatrician yesterday, he checked the lab results and said it was MRSA, he said it is common. This is my child that does not have CF. He said some people are carriers of this and don't know. He thinks my daughter probably got it from my husband because he works on Parris Island with the recruits and says they have been spreading it around there. My husband went to get his nose swabbed today so they can test him.
You seriously might want to check with your doctor about this. My doctor told me if one of my CFers get it's, especially the baby, it could be really bad. But, I don't know much about MRSA, I think I've seen it mentioned on here before, guess I need to check into some more myself.
They changed my daughters antibiotic, stating it has to be really strong to get rid of this.
