My daughter has had this twice. Both times it was because her eczema was particularly bad, she scratched and caused open sores where the staph was able to get in. In her case, it's usually on her legs and there are usually tons of the sores. SHe does not have cf. For her, oral Augmentin 600 (ES) works.

Hi, I used to get these all the time and was told that they are staph infections. It would start out like a miqueto bite and then turn into a little pimple and get bigger from there. It's kinda gross but once I got them open if I could get a big chunk of yellow puss ( it was kinda a solid not a liquid puss ) then it would go away. I would have them for weeks at a time and sometimes had to go on antibiotics for them. I had one really big one right where my panties would rub I had that one for a long time because of the friction from my clothes. That one was the only one though that didn't leave a scar. Anouther one was on my shoulder. I only had it for two or three days but when I got the junk out of it there was a hole in my arm the size of a dime. I could see inside my arm. It was so gross I had to show my mom right away. ( she gets grossed out really easy ).

Sorry I forgot to mention that I haven't had one for over 2 yrs now but I did give a couple to my boyfriend. At least I assume that he gets them from me since he didn't have any before he met me. My daughter also got one on her thumb when she sucked it raw. They told me to make sure to keep the sore open and get all the puss out and put her on antibiotics. That was the worst thing to pick at this poor 1 yr old and try to get puss out of her thumb. I felt so bad for her. Another thing, when the sores would get real big I would get sick almost like the flu. That is usually when I went on antibiotics.
