My daughter cultured Steno in January, and was treated with IVs and Bactrim because it was causing symptoms. High fever, increased cough, weight loss.... She is still on the oral Bactrim and has been since January, but still cultures it.
It used to be listed as pseudomonas, but has since been seperated. I know another CFer who bounces back and forth between pseudo and Steno, her mom thinks it is just a difference in the way the labs read it, but that is her opinion not mine.
My daughter has not cultured pseudo in over 2 years.

I have cultured both off and on over the years but aspergillis not for a long time.

I have had steno for about 2 years but did not cause me too many probs until late last year. I had a very heavy growth, got pretty sick, was treated with both oral minocycline and bactrim and IV ticarcillin. The ABX combo knocked it down, but I still culture it and it's not 'bugging' me, for now. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I culture the steno now. It was new for me in April, and they treated it with Ticarcillin iv. I did great for a while but now it seems to be "flaring up" again and now I'm on Minocycline oral antibiotic. Apparently, in most cf people it just acts like pseudo and they treat it when it's causing symptoms. That's how I understood it anyway.
