Step daughter has flu

This past friday my dh gets a call from his ex wife saying their daughter is sick, vomitting and high temp. She said she would take her to doc if she is still sick when she gets home from work that evening. I felt she needed to go NOW since she is in a very large school and is around a varity of germy kids. We just get a text message saying that it's just a virus. We don't know if she was tested for H1N1 flu. Unfortunatly, we don't have great commutication between us and the mom so we don't know details In the past she hasn't told us their daughter was sick and still sent her to our house even after me talking to her about us needing to know these things. Today dh and his ex talked again briefly and she said his daughter doesn't have fever but is worn down and sleeping lots still. This is not like her to lay around. She bounces around like crazy. Im concerned about this weekend when she comes. Would you think she's still carrying any "bugs"? I can't take chances with Grayson's health.

I would think she'd be okay by the time you see her next weekend. Long as she's fever free and doesn't have a productive cough. DH is currently in quarantine at his parents house with "just a virus" -- fever, cough, achy. His mom said he pretty much slept all but 4 hours yesterday. I won't let him come home until his fever is gone.

The reason he got sick was because a colleague went on a trip with them knowing full well he wasn't well.

It doesn't sound like h1n1, I don't believe vomitting is part of it anyway. As I understand it, 24 hours after the fever is gone you are pretty unlikely to still be contagious. So by next weekend you should be fine.

OF course, you never know what anyone might be contagious with at any given time....I believe the most contagious time is BEFORE they start to feel real sick. Keep up with good handwashing and hopefully Grayson will avoid it.

Update:
Her mom called late last nite said she is very sick again. She took her back to ER. Again, high temp, coughing, aching, and vomitting. DH asked if she was tested for H1N1 and she said no. He told her that they should this time. But, she didn't think she needed to. Like its an inconvenience. He said they need to test to make sure. Now, with her still sick, im so concerned with any "bugs" coming to the house. Grayson has been very healthy. I would like to keep it that way.
