Sterilizing nebs

I'm trying to get with the program in terms sterilizing nebs--following more of a CF protocol rather than an asthma/COPD one. Yrs ago, I had neb'ed hts and albuterol while culturing non-CF stuff. Then I stopped nebs for a couple years due to the magic of exercise. Now I'm needing to neb again but I'm culturing stuff like pseudo and stenophomonas. So, clearly it's (past..?) time to be more careful. My pulmonologist has told me to go to CF dr colleague of his and in the meantime to follow the neb/compressor instructions that came with the machine--which are what I used to do: wash with dish liquid, dry on a paper towel, and replace every one million years.
From reading past threads, I see a preference for Avent electric or microwavable sterilizers. I've found two that seem similar but differ greatly in price. Anyone know what that's about??
The Avent IQ24 is $250 and the Phillips Avent 3-in-1 is $65.

And then there's the $23 microwavable one--I do have a good quality microwave. (I gave one of these away after never using it with my first baby...too bad I'm not a hoarder as it'd still be in my basement <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

I too use a bottle sterilizer. Just wash with soap and water and pop it in the microwave.. the only problem I'm having is melting the cups!! Oooops! I've tried boiling them in a pot as well and still no luck.!! Think we go thru more neb cups than anyone.

The neb cups we use can be boiled -- Pari or Sidestream. I boil a bunch of them on the stove for 10 minutes over my noon hour. I know Amy/noexcuses used a countertop dishwasher that reaches the optimum temperature to sterilize nebs.

I always have boiled my daughter's nebs as well. We use Pari nebs. However, I found I got very tired at night when I boiled them and often would fall asleep with them on the stovetop. So afraid of burning the house down! I use an electric pressure cooker instead, it's so much better! I got it online at Amazon; it's a Cuisinart you set the time for boil and it beeps when done. I then shut it off; to depressurize the thing.. You have to wait to pull the nebs out cause the steam from the pressure cooker is CRAZY and you could seriously burn yourself. My husband's job is to shut the pressure cooker off and pull my daughter nebs out every night(cause I am always asleep!) I told the RT at our clinic how I clean my daughter's nebs and He was like Yup that'll do it.
Oh, and I get free shipping from Amazon and wait til the thing goes on sale. I think the price can range from about $100 upwards.

Baby bottle sterilizer takes 6-7 minutes and it clicks so you know when its done. Its made by Nuk.
3-4 nebs can fit at once. I sterilize after every treatment.

I to boil my parts but I have found only certain nebs can be boiled I have melted a few but the pari's work just fine for this method

Before using the sterilizer, we boiled for 10 minutes. I love my sterilizer and regret not getting one sooner. Just remember that they will not dry in the sterilizer, so you still need to take the parts out to dry on a paper towel.

I use the Avent Iq24, but I paid like $60 for it...maybe they don't make it anymore? I also have a Nuk baby bottle sterilizer that was included with my first shipment of Cayston - that works too but the Avent holds more stuff. I think any steam baby bottle sterilizer would work.
