Sternum Pressure and Soreness

I have been having pressure and tightness in my sternum the past few weeks (where the ribs connect on the left side). I get lots of muscle spasms on the left side of my chest. My chest gets tight.... if I cough enough the tightness loosens in the sternum area. I even have a sore (hot spot) on the sternum.
CF doc had no recommendations.
I am supecting costochondritits...I have been online researching.

I had this a few weeks ago...luckily it went away after a few days. I took ibuprofen and put heat on it.....I talked with my sister who is a physical therapist and she says posture can have something to do with it (I sit in front of a computer all day). Hope it goes away soon!

Yeah, I would try ibuprofen or naproxen.

Does pressing on the area hurt? Ruling out an occult fracture, I would ask about skelaxin. It's as effective (for me) as flexeril, but without sleeping 15 hours a day.

My son's been having this due to the horrid allergy season this year. We switched to allegra daily as well as singluair at night (already been taking). Ibuprofen for swelling and pain helps too.
