Still in Lockup

Hey everyone. I havent been online because I have been so tired. I originally was suppose to go home on Saturday. However, my Tobramycin levels were really high. So, that had to be fixed. So, we took levels 3 doses later, still high. So tonight we took more levels, so tomorrow we hope they will be right. That is basically the only thing keeping me here. Also on Friday my port stop working...just quit with very little warning. It's only 3 yrs old, my last one worked for 7 yrs, so I am quite disappointed. They tried some TPN (clot buster), but that didn't work either. So, it has got to be removed and replaced. When? I'm not sure. I think it will be better for me to wait until I am well and off IVs before I go through surgery, even though it's outpatient. Since my port quit, I had the lovely experience of a PICC (and a peripherel IV waiting for the PICC placement to be approved). Something I havent had since I was 15 yrs old or younger. So, that was painful even though they numbed it. The PICC caused pretty bad bruising. Every blood draw has also caused brusing. I'm starting to look like a dalmation. So, I am waiting to see what the doctor says in the morning. Hopefully my Tobramycin levels will be good. I am also on Zyvox and Fortaz. Hopefully that will be the magical combo. Good news is my sats are up to 94-96. I also got another bed . Not as good as my home bed, but better than the last one. I'll let everyone know if anything changes.

Diane, thanks for the fireworks

Danyell...

Sorry to hear you're still in lockup and having "complications"... Bummer! Hope things look up for you. I know it really super stinks to be in lockup over a weekend AND holiday cause nothing seems to get done (i.e. PICC approvals, etc) until the next "business" day.

Anyway, just keep us posted. Hope you start to feel a lot better soon!

Love,

Darn, sorry you are still in the hospital. I really sorry about having to have a PICC--and all the bruising with it! How much longer do you have to stay? I hope you get good news from the doc in the morning. Let us know.

Ugh! We had several attempts to regulate Tobra levels too. Its so hard to sit and wait!

That weird about your port, PICCs are so much fun.

Hope you get to go home soon. Let us know what the docs say.
