STOOLS :)

I just have a quick question for you all. Olivia's stools have been constipated and she cries when she tries to poo, but when i ask her if her belly is sore she say's "no". Now, she does require enzymes and our docs say we have them spot on. So its not that common that we have this issue and she also almost never has belly pains.

So i gave her some prune juice to help her, which it did but now her poos are full of mucus, i know its too much information (sorry). But they are like wibble wobble jelly and very smelly.

Does this whole situation seem normal?

Oh, and i think its happened because she is normally or pro-biotics but we havn't had any all week. I plan to go and get more on the weekend.

Thanks for any info you can give

Hi Debbie, isn't that weird. Olivia's stools were like that once before and so we had it tested, they said it contained high levels of fat which meant we were not giving her enough enzymes.

Who knows what the hell is going on, i'm just worried about a bowel blockage. What are the initial signs of one coming on?

Also is Cheyenne gaining weight, the fact that her stools are like this and that she is not on enzymes? hmmmmmm....

Sometimes its just hard to know/tell.

Thank for the reply.

It sounds like maybe she is taking too many enzymes per meal and snack. Contact her doctor. Prune juice is only a minor/temporary solution. By giving her that frequently, it may cover the underlining problem. I'm sure as a mom that you already know what I'm saying. I'm just reinforcing it. Good luck! I hope she feels better soon!

DS had constipation issues off an on -- worst was when we started whole milk -- was dreadful. What we've found is every once in awhile DS needs a good clean out. First happened when DS was a baby and even though he was stooling, he had a LOT of stool in his colon. Doctor described a meconium equivilant and suggested we try milk of mag until things started moving again. He said the first reaction would be to decrease enzymes, but that could cause problems (blockage) in the long run. Also said some of his older patients "get a feeling" and start taking milk of mag. With little ones, they can't really explain what's going on or how they're feeling.

Fortunately for us we've only had to use the milk of mag a few times. A friend of mine's granddaughter wcf has more constipation type issues and take miralax.

Eli, Cheyenne is gaining weight, but very slowly. She didnt really start gaining until after she had her toncils and adnoids out.
She eats a small meal every 1.5 hours and through the night too or she looses weight. She has always had weight issues, but wasnt dx'ed until 15.5 months ago.
I think we need to have her stools rechecked, but hey, what do I know?
Sorry I cant help you out on the obstruction thing...I hope you find something out soon and Olivia is doing better.
