Eli, Cheyenne is gaining weight, but very slowly. She didnt really start gaining until after she had her toncils and adnoids out.
She eats a small meal every 1.5 hours and through the night too or she looses weight. She has always had weight issues, but wasnt dx'ed until 15.5 months ago.
I think we need to have her stools rechecked, but hey, what do I know?
Sorry I cant help you out on the obstruction thing...I hope you find something out soon and Olivia is doing better.

I can't help with the cf tummy issues part, but when my (non cf) daughter was younger (18 months or younger), she had a few diapers with a lot of mucus in them, and when I asked her doctor about it (who is always quiet and proper ) says "Yeah, looks like a diaper full of snot, doesn't it (laughs)". So that part may just be normal- I'd just ask the dr.

Thanks to everyone fofr your replies.

Liza, a clean out sounds like a good idea. I remember her having somthing similar just after birth because she had MI and was realy blocked up.

What is actually involved ina clean out?

Debbie, i also think its a good idea to get Cheyenne's stools checked. Olivia is not that good with her weight eaither, she's still only on the 25percentile. She's very PETIT.

Thanks for the link dbtoo, i'll check it out.

AnD your so right about it looking like a real big blob of snots (yucky)

Thanks again!

The way his doctor explained it, is that some CFers get what's called a meconium equivilant. May still be stooling, but have lots of it backed up in the colon/large intestine. Some of his patients just get a feeling and will take milk of magnesia. Others try miralax. Sometimes if that doesn't work they try mucomyst, golytely, enemas, etc...

Haven't had to do this lately. But in the past DS wouldn't eat as much, his tummy would get big and round. Pooping varied -- sometimes really loose, sometimes none at all. And because we hadn't changed anything in his diet -- same amount of formula and/or enzymes we eventually figured he was backed up. His doctor recommended a tsp of milk of mag twice a day for a few days. Then we'd have a huge celebration -- cheering when he finally pooped and he'd be back on track.

The first time it happened, we had no idea because he had really loose stools, but he'd had a follow up Xray -- he was born with ME -- was about 6 months old and they saw a LOT of poo backed up in his colon.

Eli, not to go off-topic, but did you know your picture doesn't show up when we click on it? This is the pic in your signature. Just wanted to let you know. This is a good topic for those of us just learning about "poop" patterns. Especially when it comes to blockages. After what happened with Weston, I'm paying particular attention to Kaylee. Thanks for bringing this up.

I know a friend of mine's granddaughter is on miralax because she has more constipation issues. Sounds as if she gets it in her juice on a daily basis.
