strange "cellulitus"

just to clarify... mine only stays around for about 5 days..and it starts as bruise, goes to a red swollen thing, then back to a bruise...all within 5 days

i went to the dermatologist today and she diagnosed it as Erythema Nodosum

due to either: taking birth control ( i have for 2 years) or fighting off a virus/infection like chronic sinusitus (check) or a household kinda cold (check)

so we're pretty sure that thats what is

I get that every so often. Sometimes I can manage with some Ibuprofen but other times it is crippling to me for nearly week and I have to take prednisone. I have had my ankles swell to astonishing size from it and the raised red spots go all the way up my leg as well and in the joints in my hand. What you described sounds just like what I get. I only recently found this named in a book. It's called arthralgia I believe. My last doctor had no idea what it was but my new cf docs said they see this time to time in us cfers.

Yup-same with me and Lauren's. I am going to look up your diagnosis-very interesting. There are so many types of conditions like this, and they are all so similar but they vary just by one or two small things. Hang in there. I know how much this totally sucks.

After reading about erythema nodosum, I believe I have had this before. In fact a few times over the years. I remember raised swollen tissue that was hot to the touch around my ankles. Recently I had it while I was having a vasculitis flare up.
