strange question about chairs for vest users

My adult son uses an airway clearance vest 2 times a day. He is pancreatic sufficient and not on the skinny side. He needs to sit at a desk while he does the vest so he can do nebs (and look at a computer screen to ease boredom) at the same time. Anyway, with the oscillation of the vest, he has so far broken 4-5 different chairs. Some break while he is on the chair, and some break several days or months later. Several of them were Danish modern quality chairs made of teak from a high end furniture store. Several of them were less expensive chairs with caning. It seems that any chair with joints that can come apart from constant shaking will eventually fail. We don't want to put him on a slouchy sofa while he does the vest as that is not great for clearance, but that is the only thing I can think of that won't fall apart.

So, what kind of chair do you folks use that does not break from the constant resonance?

We sit on the floor in front of the couch and DS's back is against the couch (and uses an Ipad which is easier to manage). Not sure if that's an option.

We do my daughter's VEST on the couch on a daily basis. I recently replaced our old couches but not for any VEST issues. She has done her VEST in all sorts of places. Airports, school, other peoples houses, hotels...Even in our truck and car.I never thought about it breaking / damaging the furniture.

This may sound weird and maybe not doable but I have heard of people sitting on yoga balls at work(helps take pressure off the back) Not sure what it would be like to do your vest on a yoga ball(wouldn't want him to fall off)

DS usual spot on the bed either watching tv and/or with an ipad or laptop. Or in the family room on the couch or at the computer desk playing computer games or sometimes he plays xbox (Kinect) and is jumping around play video games. Just depends on what he feels like doing to pass the time. Chair at the desk is a typical office chair with wheels. I WILL say he's beat up the wall a little bit next to the computer, but really not vest related but preteen boy not paying attention as he spins the chair around.

On the couch or floor. We put his nebulizer compressor on a table next to him or on the floor if that's where he's sitting. Maybe a laptop would work better for your son. Mobile so he can sit anywhere. I think the cushions on the couch would absorb better. Just tell him to sit upnstraight. I don't think it would impair air clearance but feel free to ask your RT.

Plain ol' office chair from Staples. I sit in this thing for most of my day. Have had it for about 6-7 years now.

Thanks folks. I'll see if the sofa or floor idea will work for him when he gets home from the hospital. (There they do it right in the hospital bed).
