Strep throat

Maybe some Vicks Chloroseptic spray (that stuff you spray in the back of your throat and it numbs it for a while) and numbing cough drops. I got some for my hubby last week when he was sick and they seemed to help quite a bit. I hate strepp, I used to get it every year as a kid. I hope your son is feeling better soon!

I thought I saw some of those quick melting strips like they have for bad breathe, but made by chloraseptic, specifically for flu sore, sore throats...in the sore throat, colds aisle at Target.

BTW, I was so miserable when I had to use the crushed ice and tepid water trick after my tonsils were out, that I wandered around constantly with a glass of each. Worse part was when I'd fall asleep and wake up with a horribly dry, sore throat.

ditto on the salt water if he can. Also Traditional Medicines makes a few products...we use the liquid since he is too young for tea. Throat Coat (tea, syrup and pastilles). Has licorice and slippery elm which, as Amy can attest, really soothe the membranes. Honey and lemon with hot water if he will try it.

Benny has a cold with sore throut right now and it helped before bed. He did test neg for strep thankfully. Best wishes to your little guy.

When i had strep throat (which was for about a month) they gave me this green mouth wash stuff.. i don't remember what it's called.. but you're supposed to gargle it every 2 hours or so..and i did .. it tastes awful but it works really well... it tastes like your gargling with vodka.. but that's what i took usually once you're on antibiotics it only hurts for a day or two after you start them

My son(no CF) is acting like he may have strep throat. He's complaining of a sore throat, tired, temperature. Of course he waited to tell me he wasn't feeling well til last night after the doc's office is closed. So we're taking it easy today and first thing in the morning i'm calling the doc and bringing him in for a culture. Arg. He's been eating popscicles, jello, juice, pudding that's about it. Poor kid. He's so good. He knows to not cough on Maggie and wash his hands and stuff, I said Sammy just try not to cough on Maggiehe says"duh, mom , of course I'm not going to cough on her"

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!
Brandys throat is feeling much better today! It still hurts a little when he coughs but doesnt hurt to swallow no more.
However, he is starting to sound really chesty now, sounds like he is full of mucus, but he isnt coughing anything up (really unusual for him). He is getting low grade fevers (38) which subside with tylenol. Im going to call the cf clinic, again tomorrow, if it gets any worse Ill get them to take a look at him, just to be on the safe side.
