Stuffy Nose

When DS is on Tobi, I usually notice he gets a bit stuffed up and I don't notice it so much when he's not. Last week he sort of had a dry stuffy nose -- his nose RARELY runs. Anyway last weekend he sneezed and a chunk of dried blood came out -- actually two, which he thought was hilarious -- thought he "bomited out his nose" -- Little weirdo.

Last night I noticed he seemed really stuffed up, but not a sinus infection, cold kinda stuffy -- a dry stuffed up nose. I thought about squirting some simply saline up his now while he was sleeping, but thought that might be a RUDE awakening. So this morning I had him try to blow his nose -- nothing and convinced him to squirt some 3% simply saline up his nose. He acts like he's being butchered, so I convinced him if he let me do it, I'd let him squirt it in the air (and all over the bathroom mirror).

I imagine it's probably a combination of drier winter weather and the tobi and should get in the habit of squirting saline up his nose a couple times a day. I just worry that it could be something worse. My mind races with what ifs.... Sometimes, I just turn into a complete worrying basket case. So feel free to tell me to "suck it up princess" <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Nope. Just saline.

Regular saline spray was suggested twice a day when he had some sinus infection issues a couple years ago. I don't like using regular saline because it can tend to backwash -- act like a bulb syringe and suck the mucus back into the bottle. Bleah! The simply saline stuff is an aersol spray.

Should probably just get into the habit of using the spray to keep his nasal passages lubricated.

My first thought was of the weather. If it is becoming really dry where you are located that can be a catalyst for nose bleeds. I know for me any time I am in dry climates I get nose bleeds. I always have a hard time in December and January with the weather here because it gets drier and windier which in turn cause me to get a dry nose and causes nose bleeds.

The saline nose spray works a bit for me, but I have found that nothing really stops them. I always have a dry nose during the winter - the saline just keeps it from being a full on nose bleed and makes it more of a dry crusty type nose bleed. I know that is kind of gross - but true.

Hope the situation gets better. I have not had nose bleeds in relation to TOBI, so I can't help with that.

My son has only been on Tobi one time for a month but during that month he had a stuffy sounding nose. He now has been stuffy sounding for a couple of weeks. I am thinking it caused from the weather this time.

We'll be done with his tobi this week, so we'll see what happens. And it really wasn't a bloody nose. Just two pieces of dried blood/mucus, which he proceeded to wipe on my shirt after laughing hysterically. Toddlers!

Methinks it's the drier, winter weather, compounded by tobi. DH usually hangs out with DS during tobi treatments and says his throat and nose burn afterwards. I've just in one of those worrying moods. L
