You've had a traumatic event in which your life was in danger. Now, you are supposed to leave the one safe place where you feel they can save you. It makes complete sense that you would be terrified and full of anxiety. Is that what your racing hb is and chest tightness is? I don't know. But that's something worth looking into. Maybe you can discuss your fears of another pneumo with your drs. Maybe they can prescribe something for anxiety of suggest a plan of action if this starts to happen again.

When I had a massive hemoptysis that landed me in the ICU six yrs ago, I developed anxiety about it. Especially because it repeated a week later. When I left the hospital that second time, I had my first anxiety attack. I continued to have them here and there when I felt far from hospitals and in vulnerable situations (once was when driving on a hwy in a rural area far from home with my three little kids--I imagined hemorrhaging while they wandered the truck-filled highway. I am imaginative ;-(. Eventually I told my pcp, who said it sounded like PTSD. I ended up developing my own routine to get out of that state and thankfully/conveniently, not having hemoptysis for several years after.

Can you have family and/or friends hang out with you when you get home?
Hang in there and (((((Hugs))))).

Do you have associated symptoms with this? Chest pain SOB, periods of unresponsiveness or diaphoresis?

ETA: Are you still in the hospital and did they get EKGs while you were having these episodes?

You could be having bursts of of tachycardias from arrhythmias.....They come on quickly and can go away just as fast. I have had these from my SVT's (I posted about it on your first thread regarding this). Sometimes I need intervention to stop them, but they also have stopped on their own. Have the docs considered this as a cause? They aren't harmful tachycardias, but they cause discomfort. Perhaps they should put a Holter monitor on you to see if they can catch it. A Holter monitor is basically a continuous EKG device that you wear for 24 hours. It records your heart rhythm for 24 hours, if you have any episodes within that period, then it will catch it. You are also given a diary, you write down what you are doing,(bathing ,eating etc) and if you have any symptoms at any point.
If there are any issues, your doc would probably refer you to a cardiologist for further assessment...

Okay...I just saw that you are still inpatient.....while you are there, can't they put you on telemetry to monitor your heart? That is just a thought since this has happened twice to you already...That way, they can tell what is going on the instant your heart decides to take off on you. Just a thought....

I agree with Jenn. Have them hook you up with a continual EKG and see if there is a pattern. I have had heart issues for over a year now and have had anxiety attacks for 2 years. See a cardiologist.... rule stuff out.

You have a lot on your plate. You have been through a traumatic event.

Oddly enough I am having a high heart rate 100-140's and high blood pressure. I had to go to urgent care and get an EKG because they were concerned with a fib since I just got a device in my heart...my heart rhythm looked good just fast.... They put me on lopressor twice a day...my blood pressure came down heart rate only a little...we don't know why my heart is going ape and my blood pressure is sky high...so frustrating

I have SVT as well. The constant monitoring provided lots of information. I usually have an asthma attack soon after it starts from the rapid heart beat (excercise induced asthma) and when I can't get the asthma under control and go in to the hospital, they assume I am having a heart attack (over 40!) and around we go. I no longer have the anxiety that I had when I was 24 with a 178 beat a minute heart. Pursueit and learn the problem and your body and you can learn to handle the problem and not let it handle you. Good luck.
