I would sign up anyhow. Are you going to a CF clinic? If so, I'm sure they would have no trouble signing the form for you. We were quite surprised at how many times we have had to go to the hospital just for appointments. If I had to guess, I'd say we have gone about 15 times. Every three months we go in for a 3-4 hour appointment and with the trouble with weight, we were at one time going in once a week. Currently my husband is the only one working, but he tries to make all of the appointments. We find it helpful for the both of us to be there.

I suppose I just saw the 50 hours of work (wow) and thought that unless you have a place of work that is very understanding, it's always good to have your back.

DH has his as missing just a few days a month on his forms, just in case we need it, he has it and can't get reprimanded for it.</end quote></div>

Thanks! The 50 hours a week is really by choice. I am a work-a-holic! Or at least I used to be. My job IS very understanding. But I understand what you are saying. I would never chose my job over my daughter, so if necessary I would not think twice about signing up for FMLA.

Thank you for your replies. Hugs to you and your family. I hope you are all doing well.

DH and I both work full time -- 40-45 hours a week; however, we both have adequate time saved up so one or both of us can take him to appointments, take time off if he isn't feeling well... He's been going to preschool/daycare since he was 3 months old. We have a dog -- housetrained and I too am not the greatest housecleaner either. We mainly have issues with clutter -- things stacking up, so IF and WHEN we get control of that issue, we will be hiring a cleaning person to come in once a week to scrub floors, dust, vacuum, etc.

We had a rule when DS was a baby -- if you want to hold him -- there's the sink, wash your hands. I also carry hand sanitizer with me and use it frequently when I'm out shopping, come home from work...

One thing I didn't see mentioned here is the cross contamination issue. It's not a good idea for cfers to interact with each other. So when we go to the clinic, we keep DS separated from the other patients, don't let him play with the community toys, wash/sanitize hands frequently...

Welcome Welcome Welcome

This is a truly awesome site to get support. Just take it one day at a time and enjoy each and every moment. Before you know it, you will just fall right into a routine and CF will just become another part of your life.

Definitely like others have said, handwashing, hand sanitizer what we in the healthcare field refer to as UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS. Suspect that everyone you encounter may have something so take the necessary precautions b/c the one time you through caution to the wind, Slam, you have a big issue.

my new years resolution, to become more involved in these forums, b/c it is ever so helpful and supportive. Friends and family don't often truly understand what we go through so it is so helpful to have a whole bunch of new friends who know EXACTLY what you are going through
