When my daughters allergies start I put her in a bath with Johnson & Johnson Vapor Bath. It breaks everything up so she can blow it out & she is usually good for the night. One warning tho.....at times it has bothere my lungs to breath the smell. Granted that I was quite sick/congested at the time, but thought I would mention it since it bothered me to just be in the room & not actually in the tub with it. I also use the cheaper versioins of it, but it is a bubble bath so you dont get the foam with the cheaper versions. Just a thought if you like baths!

Though it helps to prevent a cold, one of these two ways might help clear up the nose. (But only rest will help get over a cold!)
I use a gargle medicine in Japan, called "Isogen". It looks like Iodine (a brownish color which can easily stain), and helps to kill bacteria like "Listerine" (Maybe a good substitute).
After a while, I'd run it through my nose (a little gross, but after a while you get used to it, and it really works that way), but it would burn if I used too much, so be careful if you decide to try.
If your nose is too raw on the inside, I would not reccomend that way, however, using warm water and very little salt to run through the sinuses will cut down on the runny nose. (it may still sting, a little) I was told the salt will absorb the water in the sinuses, maybe even cut down on the swelling.
Eating spicy foods causes the sinuses to sweat, and after that, the sinuses tend to stop running as well. Usually Curry Rice, Chili, Spicy Chinese, or something that'll be spicy enough to get the sinuses going would do. (This is also a preventative measure for a cold)
I hope that input helped a little. I've been doing it for years, mostly due to allergies, and it helped prevent sinus blockage. My allergy reaction seemed to cut down, too!
