Sweat Outlines in Bed

Does anyone else have a child who leaves salt outlines in the bed? My child soaks the bed at night with sweat...earning the nickname "Saltlick". Just wondered any children with mild/atypical symptoms do this?

Leaving salt crystals is very normal. In the summer I get them on my face. It's important to relpenish the sodium that's lost, though. Juices, gatorade, or salty foods will do it. Debbie 22 yr old w/ Cf

I still do that. My bed is often wet when I wake up. My pillow has actually turned a funny shade of yellow or orange (through the pillowcase!) that I imagine has something to do with the salt. And always during the summer, my face (especially my forehead) gets almost sandpaper-ish with the salt that dries onto it. I have to make sure I wash my face several times a day when it's really hot out.

Ditto to what Emily said & also my legs below the knees (guess I could have said calves) get so salty in the summer! One of the joys of having CF

Hey, at least we leave a special thing to be remembered by. My exes always told me I was the only girl they ever dated that tasted particularly salty, so I tend to stay in their memory. Hehe.

I also sometimes leave salt on my pillow. Usually it's harmless, just part of having CF!

Sometimes though, night sweats can be a sign of infection, so if your son has been feeling more congested lately, or tired, or other signs of illness, you may want to give the doctor a call.

Again though, it's pretty harmless in general

My 4 year old sweats a lot at night, mainly around his head. I was wondering though, somewhat along the same line of questioning, do people with CF tend to feel warmer? My son usually won't sleep with covers - even when I think it's cold he kicks them off. I was wondering if he generates more body heat because of his CF.

My son is 6 and is also always warm and very sweaty when he sleeps. He also is always warm; he doesn't like to wear a heavy coat, long sleeves or turtlenecks. I wonder if this is common to many with cf.

I never thought about that. But I've always been more like a guy than a girl. Most girls I know get cold whenever it's anything below 90 degrees. I can walk around in the snow in nothing other than my fleece sweetshirt. I walk around in the fall in nothing but a tank top, etc.

My son with CF turns 11 tomorrow. He has had night sweats from when he was a little baby. We usually go into his room at night and flip his pillow over, and by the morning that side is also wet. I remember asking his CF doctor about that when he was little and he said it has nothing to do with the CF, he just must be a "sweaty kid." I still figured it had something to do with CF, glad to hear I'm not crazy!

I also am never cold. Sometimes my mom will come home from the store or something and say "It's so cold in here turn the heat up!" And I'm completely comfortable LOL.

I use to have sweat lines on my sheets a couple of months ago but that was the first time I had ever had that. The reason was I had a infection. I still sweat but not as much as before.

When Emily was little, I used to cover her with blankets and she would always kick or throw them off because she was warm. I learned pretty quick that she seemed to be warmer than my other daughter. She walks around now in tank tops most of the time throughout the whole year.

...I'm still laughing about Emily's comment about being "the saltiest girl I ever dated!" ha! What a way to be remembered! This is interesting that I would read this post tonight. Just today, I was changing my son's sheets and noticed all of these little clear crumbs in his bed. Could these actually be salt crystals? He mostly just gets these on his forehead during summer and rarely sleeps w/ his covers on.

Hehehee. Carey, I imagine those may very well be salt crystals. If you're really curious enough and the idea doesn't gross you out, you could always taste one. That'd tip you off pretty fast.

My hubby doesn't have CF and still sweats like that! His pillows are soaked every morning when he gets up. They are also yellow to the point I have to replace them every few months. He says he feels fine though, so I guess he's just a sweaty man. Glad to know it happens in non-CFers too.

My boyfriend is the same way and he doesn't have CF either. I can feel the heat when I put my foot near his. Eva
