Sweat test because of Chest Xray results

My 5 year old son recently had a pulmonology consult for a wet/persistent cough. Spirometry was thought to be within normal values, though his actual performance of the test was poor because of age limitations.

His symptoms didn't fully line-up with asthma but she sent us for followup blood work and ordered a chest X-ray. We received a phone call from her office the day after the x-ray to say she had booked us into the next possible Sweat Test appointment. Freaking out a little bit and grasping at the possibility that this still might be asthma.

Attached is the radiology report - Do the findings of this report look familiar to anyone? Anyone start their cf diagnosis with chest x-ray findings?

Findings: Central bronchial wall thickening is present. Vague airspace change is also noted within the left lung base. Elsewhere, lungs are clear. No effusion. The cardiomediastinal silhouette is within normal limits.

Summary: Evidence for lower airways disease in keeping with the provided history of asthma. Further airspace changes within the left lung base. Though conceivably this could reflect mucous plugging in the setting of asthma, left basal bronchopneumonia is not excluded.
