Yes, the "better" gene usually always overrides the "bad" gene.
With Briceton though, he is Double Delta F508, which all who have two DF508 genes, 98% are pancreatic insufficient. So in my son's case, there was no need to necessarily test his pancreatic function, but instead go straight for enzyme therapy.
Also, just wanted to mention I never said that there was no need to test one's pancreatic function. I replied with what I knew of in forms of different ways to test and with my own experience with my son.
