Swine Flu Shot

My doctor wants all of us at the clinic to get it. Vandy was one of the national "test" hospitals so I dont know if that plays a part in her thinking on it but they want us to get both the regular and the swine flu shot. Also with me being pregnant they are concerend for me and the baby if I would get the swine flu.

I will not be getting the swine flu shot. I believe that there has not been enough CF persons tested to see what it will do to the CF body.

I will get my normal flu shot but any kind of swine or H1N1 flu shot NO WAY.....

I talked to my CF dr. today about the Swine Flu and the vaccination. She said it was very important for me to get it as soon as it's available. They base this on two things.

1. The Tamiflu isn't proving to be very effective in treating H1N1.

2. The other treatment for H1N1 is very hard on bronchioles and she didn't think that drug would be safe for me.

She said that at Vanderbilt 25% of their ICU is taken up with Swine Flu patients, mostly on respirators, right now. She said a healthy person getting the Swine Flu would react like getting most flu's, but a CFer would be at much higher risk getting the Swine Flu than getting the shot, in her opinion.
