Symptoms & Sweat test

As the others have said, your genetic test could go either way. We've seen negative sweat tests with confirmed CF after genetic testing. I can't really offer an opinion on what the outcome will be.

I do want to say, though, that I am so happy to hear that you have a doctor who is running the genetic test anyway. So many people come here, and they are denied further testing, because the sweat is borderline or negative. Your doctor is to be commended.

I hope that whatever happens with the test, that you find what helps your child. Keep us posted.

Hopefully, your Dr. requested the full genetic panel. Quite often Dr.'s request (or ins. will only pay for) a limited screening which only tests for the most common genes (something like 80-90). There are over 1600 possible CF genes so the full panel is really the only way to have any kind of confidence that your child does not have CF.

Christian has tested negative for celiacs, mastocysis and EE. Thay have wondered if he might have cyclical vommitting syndrome. The steriods have helped the diarrea. Has anyone else had to be treated with steroids? Is that a CF thing?

I'm sorry, but I have to ask. Isn't that a pretty high negative number?

I would definitely make sure it is a full panel test hon.

I hope the best for you!
