Taken Levaquin

Thanks so much everyone! I'm starting to feel better just reading this. I will take my first dose in about 30 minutes, cause I took my Prevacid and need to wait 2 hours after to take it.

Can you share with me what dosage you were on? I'm on 750 mg ONCE a day. This seems pretty standard (maybe even low? I'd been on cipro 500 mg 2X/day before when I was resistant)

And, do you know... Since they only do sensitivity testing for cirpo, is there any way to know (without taking it and seeing if you get results) whether I'm also resistant to Levaquin? Since they're the same family I just don't know much about that with regard to resistance/sensitivity.

Thanks!

my clinic is able to test for levaquin sensitivity....hmmmm. anyway, my bugs have been resistant to cipro and showed a sensitivity to levaquin. I DO like how effective it was for me. I think the dose you were given is pretty standard.

Thanks Karen... I was meaning to also mention to you, I know your thread wasn't to list all things bad with levaquin. No worries. I agree that ANYTHING long term should be seriously considered.

I personally think it would be funny (and terrifying at the same time) to start a thread about all the bad things people have had happen on various CF drugs. Could you imagine the responses? I know I've had severe reactions to some meds and even one or two that I'd taken before long term and out of the blue started wreaking havoc on my body.

I totally agree with you. We need to keep an eye and keep in tune with our bodies when we're put on any med, abx, nebulized, enzymes, etc. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

That's interesting to read about bad dreams being a side affect - I am on it right now post-sinus surgery, and I woke up screaming (well, it was screaming in my dream, more yelling IRL, I think) the other night - that's the first time I've ever done that.
