Hey,
I've gone to the tanning beds since I got my port and there has been no problems...i did wait until the scar was 100% healed though because it would have gotten very dark if i hadn't...good luck but you might wanna take kyberts advice about avoiding tanning beds if possible...limit it to getting tanned if you have a special occassion or event to go to...

I think the stand up bed idea is great. They usually cost a little more, but they are SO good! You get a better tan and it takes less time. Plus, the germ factor. You don't have to touch anything. Maybe bring antibac wipes to just wipe off the door handle and your hands for after?

I only tan if I have an event coming up. I have tried Mystic tan and tons of other spray on tans. Some people love them, but I'm not one of them. I just think of all the chemicals and dye in them, that can't be good for your body. Of course the UV rays aren't good either!! It's so hard, we're all vain! But thats another debate...

I have to agree with Kylie on this , why ?. You are a specific colour for a reason, Northern Europeans are white, and that includes most australians, and the further south you go where it gets hotter the darker people get. Its something to do with heat reflection and absorbsion.<img src="">

edited to add;
Being Scottish my natural colour is blue, if i go on holiday to sunnier climates ,then it takes me 2 weeks just to get white

exactly craig. if anyone has a problem with the skin colour you are meant to be tell them to get lost. they are the ones who need to change, not you. let them be the ones who are going to look like leather bags when they are older. embrace the pale! coming from a country where teenagers are even getting skin cancer, i am totally against intentional tanning.

"wow kylie, you look pale" "yes, i know. I WAS BORN LIKE THIS!"

I understand the difference, but I am not just pale....I am a pasty pale that makeup can only do so much with before looking like a mask. I never want to be toasty brown with skin like leather, but a "touch of sun" look is nice. Of course I prefer the sun for that, but would use the tanning booth in a pinch. Again not to any extreme!!

Yes, in moderation. If I have been sick and I have a family wedding coming up, I don't want to look sick so all my family will be like-ohhhhh. I like it when they say, you don't look sick. And come on-everyone looks better with a little tan!
It's not having a problem with being caucasian!!! I just like to look healthy if I have that pasty white look that Melissa talked about-Mel, I HEAR YOU!

A little tan, a little makeup..whatever helps you too feel confident in your looks.
