SeanDavis... I feel the same way. I'm pretty heavily tattooed... and I do have some rose tattoos-- but because my middle name is Rose. Heh. And no, it's not like... a little rose tattoo on my ankle!

You know though... the more I think about getting tattooed with a CF tattoo... I think, whatever gives someone strength.

This is a very interesting topic. I have 3 tatoos and plan on many more. I never thought of getting one about CF but I do have tribal angel on my shoulder. When pelple ask about it, I say it is my angel of health. I think I prefer to use my tatoos a symbol of who I am. I have never had a negitive thought about my CF but like SeanDavid, I am not sure if I would dedicate one to CF. That is definately food for thought.

Tattoos are very addicting! I started with a small dragon on the small of my back, followed by some tribal wings on either side of the original dragon. I now have an additional large angel dragon on my shoulder blade, and twin lizards on my rib cage. I have an appt coming up for some more ink in the spring. Like Debbie said - tattoos are very addicting. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Addicting, is not even the word to describe it, I think maybe obsession. I am fascinated by them. Like Liz said "it is something I can control." It has been over a year since I got my last tattoo. I am itching for a new one. I just can't decide where to place it. I have one on my shoulder, my hip and the small of my back. I work for a Catholic college so I tried to be discrete where I place them.

Your comment on how you can't control your disease but tatoos are something you can control hits home! My son Josh, who passed away 4 weeks ago, had 5 tatoos. I told him he couldn't get any until he turned 18 and he did exactly that. He never said what you said about his tatoos, but that is exactly what I thought. The last one he got was on his chest. It was a knife with a ribbon running through it and in the ribbon he had his brother and sisters names on it. That one really impressed me. Before he died he told us he wanted his tatoos showing in the caskett. ( I hope this doesn't offend anyone) He didn't want to wear a shirt. We did put a shirt on him but it buttoned and we left it open so everyone could see the tatoos. Some people in our family were upset about all of the tatoos, but I knew it was something he had to do.

To me, your body is a living canvas. Why not show your life off with tattoos? I may not be able to control what is going on with/in my body, but I can control and show my tattoos as me. Just as CF is a part of me, tattoos are a part of me.
