tattoos and transplants

I currently have 3 tattoos. I haven't got one in three years or so. I want to get another one but am curious about how it may effect my lung transplant list placement. Is there a certain number of years they want you to wait after having getting a tattoo before they will let you have a lung transplant?

I have actually never heard that question. I would imagine that so long as the tattoo has enough time to heal or is healed when you go for an evaluation that it would not matter when you had it done.

That is just a thought though - as I dont' have tattoos and never asked that question.

I just know that the concern in getting tattoos POST transplant is that they will get infected and such. That is why I am thinking that so long as it is healed properly it wouldn't be a problem. I can ask today when I am at my center and see if any of the other transplant patients may have an idea about that.

Take Care,
Lindsey

I will let you know if I find out anything.
