difinately ask the doctor, i know TB is BIG deal if you have cf, not sure why, but i know that every doctor visit they ask if i've been exposed to it and every year they test me for it. if there is any chance at all of him catching it there might be a problem but ask the doctor, i'm no doctor and certainly don't want to act like one like dr. phil so get a real doctors advice on this one

Well one reason I was really concerned is because when Austin was in the hospital at the end of June for his tune up and of course he was also sick. I noticed that he was sweating really bad during his sleep and showed the nurse. Everything was soaked. He wasn't running a fever or anything.

I mentioned this to the doctor and he said to keep an eye out and let him now if he continued to sweat like that. I asked why would he be sweating like that. He said he didn't know but if it continues he would do a manatox test on him. Obviously that is one of the symptoms. I am assuming.

Well he sweated again the next two nights but not as bad as the first. During the third night the respiratory therapist came in and was complaining about how hot it was in the room. I hadn't really noticed. I was hot in there but I thought it was me. (I forgot to bring my hormones with me LOL) He checked the thermostat and it was broken.

There was o air at all in the room. So they called and had it fixed. I can't believe that after that all the nurses said "Yea it was really hot in your room we thought you wanted it that way." In the summertime I think not. DUH!

They did bring a fan in while it was being fixed. They could have moved us to a new room. But that would be like moving to another house. All of the packing. Plus we had the biggest room in that area. It was back in a corner wher no one really walked by. So therefor Austin could be as loud as he wanted and listen to the radio loud or whatever he wanted back there.

Well that is a long story isn't it just to tell you why I was worried. I will call the doctor on monday.

I would keep your son and your SIL away from each other (not in the same house) until you could speak with his CF Dr to see if it was a reason to be concerned. Maybe you should also ask your brother which meds your SIL was on when she was treated for the TB, and tell the doc (or he may ask), to make sure she was treated correctly. Not sure, but I think there is a national protocol for TB treatment. Personally, I would not be near someone that I knew had previously been dx with TB, but my lung functions and immune system is low.

I work with the elderly, i do not have CF but my daughter does and i know that the docs at clinic have asked me if i am TB tested. I personally would not let my child stay with one that has been diagnosed with TB although i know that we are exposed to alot of bacteria daily.
