Please read my recent blog, b/c I talked about this type of thing just happening to me this week. I just sent in 3 sputum tests this week and the second one showed up looking like the TB class of bugs. When the tests first are "stained" they could look a certain way and be classed. That "umbrella" type class they like to refer to as TB, but it does NOT mean you have that one type of bug. That class covers a variety of TB and TB related bugs that are not infectious. I have MAC which is a relative of TB but I do not have TB. Once they grow stuff out on the sputum culture (ie: MAC take about 1-2 months to actually grow), then they can tell you what you REALLY have. Hope this makes sense.
