zosyn (which by the way i LOVE because it does a great job killing my bugs and it doesn't require lab draws to check levels like tobra) makes me feel like i will never be hungry again when i first start it. that feeling usually goes away after a few days, though. diarrhea and yeast are also pretty much givens, although i was able to keep my yeast down this last time with probiotics. the 6-hour schedule is a bummer for sure, but overall i'm glad to do it because of the results.

Hi Christian - Sorry I hadn't replied until now. My experience with Zosyn is that it induced pancreatitis in me. From the description you give about the pain it could possibly be pancreatitis so I would probably ask your doc to do amylase and lipase levels just to be sure. Hopefully it won't be that but it can't hurt to get the levels checked to rule it out. Hope you find relief soon!

My son is allergic to zosyn- horrible rash and high fever. Both times he was on it it happened - the first time they thought it was a virus -he goes home and is off the med and it goes away. The second time they again thought a virus but an intelligent and observant resident decided it might be an allergy and as soon as hes off of it symptoms start subsiding. So glad we figured it out.

I was on Zosyn right after I had my sons, in oct 2005. I was fine the first two weeks, then the third week I started getting a fever and just felt weird. In 2 days I had a 105.1 fever and was in the hosp. for what they thought was an infected PICC line. They took the line out and I still had the fever on and off for two more days, by day 4 my white blood cell count was very low and my platelets had dropped significantly. they finally figured out it was the zosyn, I was allergic I guess to it.
Just be careful, if you start to feel strange and feverish, call your dr. Good luck
