Tom is struggling with his solid foods and has been attending feeding therapy for 4 months now. They have diagnosed him with having food texture issues. So basically he is picky with solids - he still needs all his food to be pureed, although will happily eat crackers, chips, fries, most fruits and the odd bit of bread. He has made little progress with his therapy and I am really struggling with whether we should continue with it or not! Weight wise he is doing great (90th percentiile), so the CF CLinic tell me not to worry about pushing soiids, they would rather he has the weight. But, I am getting worried because he is almost 2 and he doesn't feed himself either - as hard as I try and encourage him. He has also been diagnosed with slow gastric emptying so I think he probably doesn't want solids because it is too hard for him to digest. Anyone with any ideas or advice? It is becoming very stressful - weight gain versus eating solids - arggh???
