Thanksgiving coming up, soon...

I had this thought in the way back of my mind, which popped out when I saw the calendar this month! I noticed my company actually has a holiday on Thanksgiving!! (because it's the day of Autumn Equinox!)
I also thought if I were to 'introduce' the wife to some American customs (the ex-wife was a total drag about this!), I thought making up something as close as possible to Thanksgiving Dinner would be great for the two of us (The MIL can spend her meal eating fish in her room!)
Besides, finding a job is something to be thankfull for!
I wanted some ideas that would go with Cranberry Sauce, so with the feedback, I can start doing some searching for the items.
Any good recipes for stuffing? I thought since Turkey is inexistent here (or very expensive because it's imported), we'd have chicken, but can you stuff a chicken?

I got a few cans of Campbell's cream soup (forgot which flavors) that's also waiting to be used!

Yes, you can stuff a chicken. Pork tenderloin goes very good with cranberry sauce. Or you can take almost any stuffing recipie and mix cranberry sauce into it before cooking. Cranberry sauce is also good on the traditional left-over turkey (or chicken) sandwiches after thanksgiving.

I always bring my own stuffing to my outlaws for thanksgiving because I'm always homesick for the kind my mom always made. I just bake it in a casserole.

Do you have access to yams or sweet potatoes? My sister always makes baked yams with brown sugar, butter and marshmallows. I can't stand the stuff, but it's apparently popular with some folks.

Fresh baked buns with butter. Mashed potatoes and gravy....

You know what's really good? Cranberry meatballs (if you like beef). Here's the recipe:

1 can Cranberry sauce (with whole berries preferably, but without the berries is fine too)
1 pkg Hamburger
1 Cup Russian Salad Dressing
1 tsp Brown Sugar
1 Tbs Lemon Juice
1 pkg Onion Soup mix
1 egg
1 cup Rolled Oats

Mix hamburger, oats, egg and onion soup mix in a mixing bowl, and then form your meatballs. Cook in the oven at 350F/180C for 15-20 minutes. In a pot, put all other ingredients together and add meatballs. Cook on medium/low heat for about 10 minutes, or until hot.

This recipe is really great on mashed potatoes or with rice.

Edited to add: with the Campbells cream soups, you can make a potato sort of casserole with that. Mix the soup with cream, milk or water until its a medium thick paste type texture, add margerine or butter to the top of this mixture (don't mix it in with the soup), and add small mini potatoes to the mixture. This can either be cooked in the microwave or in the oven (not sure on the time or temp, simply cook until the potatoes are tender - I usually do this in the microwave on high for about 20-25 mins give or take.)

Sorry I hadn't replied sooner, been busy.

Thanks, for all the comments and suggestions. However, I forgot to mention we don't have an oven, just a microwave. How Japanese can ever cook without an oven, I have no idea!
If I can find Russan salad dressing and rolled oats (there's probably tons of rolled rice, here! hehe!), I want to try your recipe, Liz, if I can exchange the oven for the microwave!

I can get instant mashed potatoes, or mash my own (I love mashed potatoes!), and of course, we've got plenty of rice (might skip the rice idea for me!)

As for the turkey sandwiches, I'll probably have to wait till I go back home for my mom's turkey dinner, and have the sandwiches on the plane for the flight home! Last flight, I had roast beef! (*mouth watering*)

My recipe should work in the microwave. So long as its powerful enough to cook meatballs, it shouldn't be a problem. Once the meatballs are cooked, put them in the sauce and cook in the microwave. I guarantee its super good!
