1. What is your age? 16

2. Are you a Male of Female? Female

3. Where do you live? birmingham, england

4. At what age were you diagnosed with CF? when i was born.

5. How would you classify your CF, Severe, Moderate, or Fair or does not affect you in any way, and please explain. Severe/moderate, im up and down alot.

6. Are you depressed or have you ever been depressed, if so what aged did this start? 13-14 i think, i sort of realised hat my illness was, and having my back patted on a foam triangle while watching eastenders and taking my creon in yogerts wasn't normal. Getting ill for the first time and being admitted into hospital for a month first made my 'depression' set in. I don't think i'm depressed as such.
I think i get really sad sometimes as you would with cystic fibrosis or any other illness, or maybe everyday life.

7. If you said yes to the above question, do you feel that this relates to your CF, if so how? I think i would be a happier person without c.f but in life i'd find other situations to be just as sad over.

8. If you said yes to question 6, but no to questions 7, please explain.

9. How severe have you been Depressed, Severe, Moderate, or Fair, and please explain? i think you cant label how depressed you are, sometimes i feel fine, forget i even have c.f, sometimes i think too much about later life, nd that really makes me sad, doing all your medicene all the time that becomes a boring routine just too keep stable not get better. and with doing all that; still getting ill. That makes me really feel like giving up. i think it depends on how you are as a person, how you cope with your illness. In 16 years of having c.f i have felt all kinds of 'depression', to feeling really low to being on top of the world.

10. Do you feel that there are sufficient resources for your Depression and CF?
I hav alot of support through doctors and nurses, and have seen a phycologist and counciller, that helps i think... just to talk.

11. Do you feel that your Depression has had a negative impact on your CF?
indeed i do. Sometimes you try your hardest and still fall ill. It puts your will power to take medicence ect to a all time low.

12. Do you feel that any of the medication that you are or have taken has caused or impacted your Depression in a negative way? When i have i.v antibitics and spent time in hospital it makes me feel worse.

13. Do you feel that your Depression fluctuates as your health fluctuates? Yeah i'm happier when my lung functions up, when im heavier, look well and feel well.
When i can do what i want and feel as though my illness isnt limiting me I feel worse when i'm ill.

14. Does any one else in you family suffer from Depression? Yes

15. Has something else, besides CF, such as a traumatic event, or an environmental factor influences you your Depression, if so what and to what extent? My Dad Had a cancer (brain tumor)and now suffers with epilepsy. recently my dog, close friend and a few family members died. thats it i suppose.
