The Vest on a Plane

The last time I traveled with my toddler alone, we hauled the vest on the plane (included on a little commuter jet) and it was miserable. The flight attendants gave me a terrible time and had the pilot actually come out of the ***** pit to take a look at the vest to make sure we could put it under the seat (there wasn't room above).

Is there an easier way to do this? We travel on Saturday, and the thought of lugging that sucker on the plane is giving me a panic attack. Has anyone successfully checked it? Would you recommend that? Thanks in advance! Elise

No experieance with travel and the vest, Brandon is awaiting his, but has to get a little bigger... which just makes me wonder why you would bother bringing it.. why not do it the old fashion way.

We flew with ours this June. If she has the Hill Rom Vest, they have a new luggage-type bag with wheels that makes it easy to get through the airport. That doesn't really help you right now if you don't already have it though.

Are you flying on a small plane again? Our vest fit in the overhead, but it was kinda tight. We had to make sure it was turned on its side. My husband did get a "next time you fly with this thing you need to check it" from an attendant on the way home and my husband replied with "there is no way I am checking a $16,000 piece of medical equipment." I would definately NOT check it, MAYBE I might gate check it but only if I absolutely had to!

Maybe it will make you feel better to know that my husband and I with our 5-year and 2-year old CARRIED ON 4 wheeled carry on bags, 4 small carry-on bags, the Vest, a carseat (Britax Marathon which is HUGE) and gate checked a stoller! Yes we are at least slightly crazy <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> but it really wasn't that bad!

Anyway, hopefully you can fit it above this time. Hope it goes well!

We travelled in August with the Vest and had no problems at all. We had a letter from the docs explaining what it was. They had to check it out at security because of so much metal. And they let us roll it right into the plane. It fit perfectly over head. We traveled Southwest.
Blessings,
Missa
