Congrats on the vest. It made our life sooo much easier. My daughter was 15 months when we got it. She HATED manual CPT and would cry the whole time, so she transitioned to the vest easily. Now (at 20 months) she complains a bit, but usually it goes great!!!

The vest is very exciting. I remember how nervous I was when Cass got hers about 6mo. ago. I was thinking, how am I gonna get her to like this thing? She was just a little over 2 then. We just make it fun! We call it her Jiggy machine. When she first started w/ it she would sing because her voice sounded funny. Now she usually just likes to watch her favorite cartoon (Spongebob).
Good Luck! It really is alot easier than CPT!

Maga2, are they doing ANY chest physiotherapy. That really irks me, too. When DS was about a week old we stared CPT 4 times a day. And when he'd get a little upper respiratory infection, cold, his doctor would tell us to "beat it out of him".

DS got his a year ago at the age of 3. He usually watches cartoons or dvds and has a snack. Plays with his action figures. Although last night he finished watching a movie and proceeded to stand on the bed and dance for several minutes. Was pretty funny.

We do the vest 3 times a day, but sometimes for the early morning one, I'll do CPT, so he doesn't get a rude awakening. Though when one of us is out of town it's great because we can put the vest on him and gradually increase the hz and he'll sleep thru it.

Emily is almost 2 (WOW! it's strange to think that!) and she has had her vest sonce May. She doesn't mind it once it's on and started. We do her nebs at the same time, and she DOESN"T like that, but, I think it's because we hold it on her face and she feels "forced" to do it. She's an independent little bugger. That's why she resists the vest at first , too.

But, once the "shaky shaky" starts, she's fine. SHe watches the Wiggles (She is a freak for Murray, the red WIggle.....LOVVES him!). SHe plays with her big sister. IT is hilarious to watch a 5 year old and a 2 year old in a vvest try to play hopscotch. The play dough is a good idea. We also sing a lot. SHe yells out a song and we all sing it. That's pretty funny too, since we can only tell what she is saying about 70% of the time. The rest of the time she gets MAD when we start singing the wrong song.

My one piece of advice, try not to let her actually see you pushing the buttons that turn the thing on and off. Once Emily found that...well, we have had to re-start many times. Oh, and she loves to pull the hoses out, too.

But, you will love the vest. It is absolutely essential.
