The vest

My son is 10 and does the vest and has this problem most days. Like everyone has said just experiment with everything. Adjusting it all and not letting her eat until after. My son ended up having to get a new vest to fit correctly. This has helped a lot. So I think the adjustment has a lot to do with it. Also you can do a few minutes at a time and let her get up and stretch and move around and then start it up again. We do that a lot too.

Good Luck

If the vest is rubbing the skin, rather than the issues with using too soon after eating or too high a setting. Ever since our 10 year old son started doing vest treatments (3 years ago), he has liked using a soft shirt underneath the vest, rather than regular shirts/t-shirts. In particular, a short sleave,inside-out UnderArmor shirt works well. UnderArmor is the softest, with few seams. Most discount stores have similar brands as well. One extra step, but it beats having sore senstive skin.

I am not sure which vest company you use, but Hill-Rom makes contour foam that can be use under the vest for extra padding. You can ask Costumer Service for it. It is usually used to cover g tubes and ports, but it probably could be used for other purposes.

DS did this when he was younger, so we'd start the vest on a lower setting and gradually increase the settings. Sometimes I figured he was bored and trying to get out of doing the vest because these issues pretty much stopped once we got him an xbox to play games on while vesting.

This summer during his hospital stay for surgery to correct a bowel obstruction he continued to do his vest and we placed a towel under the vest on his tummy.
