about the scientific evidence relating to the vest...my husband is currently participating in a VEST study at Naval medical center san diego for how much the VEST does or does not benefit CFers in comparision to manual Chest PT and NO chest PT. There are other studies ongoing as well.

20 cf'er i liked the vest very much before i had a g-tbe or portacath then it became more of a pain to hook it up and cover both just so they wouldnd hurt

Hello, my daughter has the vest and has been using the vest for several years now, she is 8 years old and does it 3 times a day, we only need to do it 2 times daily per her docs but we try real hard to get 3 in a day and most of the time we do, she is very active and her only problem is having to sit still, she does not cough much but normally doesnt anyway,when she starts to cough i usually know that is a sign that she has a bug. Our insurance paid for her vest years ago and she actually was just upgraded to the 104 model, i felt really bad at first after reading this site but the vest co. told me that they refurbish the old one and it goes to those whose ins. does not pay for it. the co. is hillrom so please try to contact them to see how that works.<img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">

For all you vest curious people, here is the official vest site. They will even give you a 30day trial to see if you like it, or while you are waiting for auth. from the insurance company.
